Maudlin story

This story popped up as a m/m romance recommendation and I'm not really sure why. It certainly isn't the main push of the story and if you read it expecting that, you'll be disappointed. The 'relationship' compromises about 15% of the story, strewn about in unrelated tidbits.

If you are looking to spend a year in the mind of a bitter man caught in the past, who eventually tries to not be a jerk to those around him, this story will work for you.

WOW just WOW

I'm not sure where to start with the excellence of this book. Even the characters that were in the background played a huge part. Not only was the writing easy and jovial it was at the same time deep and thought provoking. This book has my emotions ALL over the place. Read it in one sitting. Not because I couldn't put it down, but because I truly didn't want to. I will continue to look for more works by this author.

Great book SPOILERS

REVIEW CONTAIN WHAT SOME MAY CONSIDER SPOILERS, NOTHING HUGE THOUGH.

There are common themes in all books by Rose Christo (that does NOT mean that she basically writes the same book all over again, quite the contrary), but she weaves the issues which are important to Native Americans almost in every book. And the situation with Native American kids being taken away from their tribes is apparently very important to her (and I understand why even though I am not Native American, but even to me what is happening is horrifying). Shawn, the main character had been through such horror when he was a kid and what he got as a constant reminder was a permanent blindness as a "gift" from his adoptive "mother". Yeah, no wonder it made him bitter and upset (other things happened that contributed to that as well, but that would be going into spoiler territory way too much. I do think that the story is first and foremost Shawn's journey in coming back to himself and getting rid of the bitterness. I think he is a wonderful character, really. I do think that romance is a secondary storyline here, but OMG how beautiful I found what we did get. There is no sex, so stay away if you need it in your romances.

    Best Reference Book for Metal and Machinery ever Made

    My number one reference for most anything related to metal, fasteners, threading or machinery design. There is no other book that compares. New, it comes with a CD of the same information as the book (in PDF format), but if you are buying it used, chances are the CD is long gone. This is still a great book, since very little of the existing data goes out of style in it. Later versions may be newer, and I think after the 27th edition, they added computers and computer coding terminology, but unless you are solely CNC-based, this is still one of the best 'one-book-encyclopedias' you could ever ask for.

    quite exhaustive collection of information

    All about flags. Colors, details, aspect ratios, dimensions. It was quite all very interesting. Great trivia sources, for example, which are the only two countries that have a perfectly square flag ? which is the only country to have a flag completely of one color ?

    The book also goes into details explaining the coat of arms and the history it references. I found it interesting in knowing that the text in the south african coat of arms is from a now-extinct language.

    One thing I did notice: the editorial pressure of not offending the People's Republic of China must have been such that the flag of TIBET was NOT included (Hong Kong was...) It is such an interesting flag... so it did catch my attention...

    A Great book ! although lacking in some areas

    This book is very very good. It is not a professional book but it serves its purpose.
    There are some areas where it lacks some information - Someone mentioned that Italy's counties/provinces' flags are not included, well, this is true for many countries who have these - Argentina for example has no flag other the national one although it has many provinces which are huge in area.
    The info for each flag is scarce however it is very interesting and in many flags you get a closeup of the main emblem like in the Mexican flag where you can see what is drawn inside.
    I like the page where you get some info regarding the typology of the flags like all the flags who are tricolored or tribanded.
    I bought this book for my 8 y/o son who is a fantaic of flags and often finds errors in flags drawings and publications.
    I am already waiting for his findings...
    The price of this book is ridiculouos ! it costs less than the shipping to my country !
    The paper quality is top notch - full color book.
    YOu can't gp wrong with this little book.

    Great reference but it could still be better

    The book is well organized and illustrated, and I really like the fact it has many subnational flags; taht is one reason I purchased it, but for some reason it is missing subnations flags for a few larger countries, like Italy (e.g Italy's 20 regions have flags for example, many well known, like Sicily which are not included directly with Italy). Also I would like to see a larger section on civic, or city, flags.

    This is a great reference overall though.

    Dr. Elmer Towns, vice president of Liberty University, college and seminary professor, dean of the School of Religion, is also the author of numerous popular and scholarly works. He is the 1995 recipient of the coveted Gold Medallion Award awarded by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association for the Book of the Year, The Names of the Holy Spirit. He and Ruth, his wife of 51 years, have three children and ten grandchildren.

    Prayer from God's Perspective

    "How God Answers Prayers" is a unique approach to looking at prayer. Award winning author Elmer L. Towns discusses prayer from God's perspective. Each of the short, fast moving, chapters are filled with practical illustrations drawn from contemporary stories, written in layman's language.

    Town's describes prayer as communication with the heavenly father and introduces a new level of intimacy and relationship with him. I found the directives in the "Let's Pray Now" section within each chapter to contain wise counsel accompanied by easy to follow action steps.

    The book is divided into four sections, made up of 48 concise topical studies. Town's points out important items to be considered by God in his approach to bringing to pass specific answers to the prayers of his people. "How God Answers Prayer" is another evidence of Elmer Towns' skill as a story teller and of his gift of communication. The book is a fine addition to his "How to Pray" library.

    Possibly there has been more books writeen on prayer than any other Bible subject. Allow me to copy the Section titles to help you guide yourself through this important subject I. The Way God Promisted He Would Answer; II. The Really Hard Answers; III. The Way God Gives Answers; IV. The "No" Answers to Our Prayers, and the Epilogue Understanding Answers.
    This is an 'excellent' book. It is full of Bible references as Dr. Elmer L. Towns, who is an excellent writer and teacher, provides for all of us the complete message of the Bible on prayer. I began to think which session was the best, and I say to each of you...this book is just excellent. I just love it!

    Great book about what God does to answer prayer. God answers in different ways. We must trust God to answer what is best for us and when its best for us. Prayer is a relationship with God. We need to know how to relate to Him to get our answers. We need to ask God for what we want. We have not because we ask not.

    All medical doctors, counselors, teachers, school administrators, parents, friends of those suffering from ADD or ADHD - need to read this book written by a doctor who has successfully treated 1000s of patients with this problem. His approach to comprehensive and addresses the causes of the problem rather than the problem. Use of drugs are counter-indicated for though they may help short-term, they cause lasting difficulties. As a counselor specializing with alcohol and drugs, I have seen countless individuals who were placed on drugs to address this problem turn to alcohol and other drugs as a result. This is a needed read.
