Just when I thought there could not be anything more strange in the world, this fantastic book (Strange: 1,001 Frightening Bizarre Outrageous Facts about the land of the free and the Home of the brave by Eric Gryzmkowski) is discovered by me. My reading habits are somewhat unique and even strange. I enjoy reading all kinds of books on a wide range of topics. A few of my numerous interests include martial arts, science books, quote books, poetry books, Shakespeare, philosophy and even so-called new age topics, which are the absolute weirdest books I have ever read.
The very interesting volume is organized into 12 chapters. The following is a sample of some of the chapters in this volume: Chapter one covers obscure American Laws to embrace, Chapter two is about animal oddities to astound you, the wonderful world of the American paranormal is explained in chapter three. If you like being grossed out than chapter four which is on weird American delicacies was written for you. Chapter five deals with horrifying American Hauntings. Strange roadside attractions across the U.S. are covered in chapter six. Chapter seven deals with odd museums and galleries. Mind blowing constructions are mentioned in chapter eight. There are four more interesting chapters that will keep you turning the pages.
In conclusion, this book is not only entertaining but also provides unique information on a wide range of topics. If you love reading about strange but true things, you may want to check out this book.

False facts, shody sources, and annoying anecdotes

I bought this book because I like fact books, but I wouldn't call it a reliable source of information. I have spotted one fact in here that was proved to be an urban legend years ago that he presented as a fact. There is a section of myths and folklore, but the one fake fact I spotted was presented as a historical truth.
After every individual fact there its individual source. One of the sources listed was "cracked.com". If you have not heard of this site, it is a humor site that is usually good about posting their sources when they do a scientific article, but even they know to go to a direct source, and they're not all even paid for their work. So Eric Grzymkowski looks to have just copy and pasted what he found to be interesting on the internet. There are other sources that make it seem like he is just playing a game of telephone, and he is the last receiver.
After every fact there is a little snarky comment that just gets tiresome over the whole book, and is voiced by a jaded guy who thinks he's hilarious.
I have checked other individual facts and have found them to be corroborated by various respectable sources, but I certainly won't do this for every fact in the book. I wouldn't trust this book as a reliable source of information.

Learn Something while Laughing

I was given this book as a gift. It is a great coffee table item for the history or trivia lovers who enjoy getting a laugh while learning some new fun facts. The book is organized in a great manner. You can go through it page by page, or just having fun opening the book at random each day and seeing what it has to say.
