Nathalie Frankowski is a French Architect who graduated in 2008 from the department of Architecture, Art and Philosophy at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris La Villette with a Diplome d'État d'Architecture option research. In 2008 she co-founded WAI a contemporary think tank for architecture and the city.

Cruz García is a Puerto Rican Architect who graduated in 2008 from the Universidad de Puerto Rico with a Master Degree in Architecture In 2008 he co-founded WAI a contemporary think tank for architecture and the city.

At Imperial College Robert Endres heads the Biological Physics Group. Recently he won the prestigious ERC Strating Grant award. About the Author
Rinda Blom PhD is a part-time senior lecturer in social work at the University of the Free State in South Africa and is also a Company Director for the Foundation for the Development of Emotional Intelligence in Children (WiseChild). Since studying Social Work and Gestalt Play Therapy at the University of the Free State and the University of Pretoria she has worked in private practice specialising in child therapy and parental guidance. She has studied Gestalt play therapy in the USA under its founder Dr Violet Oaklander and now runs her own short courses in South Africa on emotional intelligence, parental guidance and play therapy.

Handbook of Gestalt Play Therapy

This is a good educational book that offers many Gestalt techniques for play therapists. It works through assessment to on going therapy to closure. It is clear consice and easy reading. I wished it had more techniques for on-going therapy that were specific instead of a general overal technique. The first chapter is very technical and theory oriented, but the following chapters explain the techniques and make the theory clearer.

Overall it was a very good and useful book.

Just when you think we've completely OD'd on popular topics like the Corsair, and in many ways we have, this series comes along. Like the old In-Action series, but much better. Large photos - obviously - and scholarly information. This is one of those series you'll want to collect all of them. Good on the writers and publishers!

First Original research on the F4U Corsair in a long time.

First of all, in the interests of full disclosure I was a contributor to this book.

There are a lot of books written about the Corsair, but to my knowledge this is the only one dedicated solely to the first production model, the F4U-1, popularly known as the "Birdcage" Corsair.

Early F4Us are not as well understood as the later versions, but author Dana Bell was able to uncover and review original photographic imagery, as well as company documents and inter-governmental memoranda to compile this title. Dana's discoveries dispel several myths and misunderstandings which have been oft repeated in other Corsair texts.

Two significant parts that i contributed to, are the discussion of the evolutionary engineering changes made to the tail wheel assembly (which improved the ground handling and landing characteristics), and the evolution of the three/ four tone paint scheme over time; augmented by several never-before-published photos and supplemented by full colour profile illustrations.

As noted Naval Aviation historian Tommy Thomason said (in his tailhook topics blog), you will not find unit histories, biographical accounts, and slews of profile illustrations in this book; this is not an "In-Action" treatment. What this book does contain, is original research, and not a regurgitation of Corsair tidbits seem in countless other references.

If you are a serious student of the F4U Corsair, this book is a "Must Have" reference, especially for those interested in the early history of the programme. It also makes an excellent companion piece to anyone building the Tamiya F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair variants, which i have also reviewed.

Super book; what it is and what it's not

Super, authoritative documentation of how we got the M16 -- the engineering, the salesmanship, the politics, and all the pitfalls along the way. Well written and very enjoyable to those who have a passion to everything there is to know about the M16. Carries up to the adoption of the M16A2 (1987).

Does not attempt to focus on nuanced distinctions between the M16 and various models AR15s you may find on the market. As the title says, it's about the devlopment of M16 as our battle rifle -- not the civilian AR15 version.

Very technical book that tells the story

Mr. Steven's book tells the story of how this rifle was adopted and he goes into great detail. If you are uninterested in this level of detail perhaps this isn't the book for you. But for the enthusiast this is a four or five star book. It really depends on your level of interest.

About the Author
Patricia Brooks is a Professor at the College of Staten Island. She conducts research in the areas of language development in children, second language learning in adults, and speech production and comprehension. On-going research projects explore (1) speech perception in children with Autism, (2) lexical access in children with Specific Language Impairment, (3) individual differences in adult second language learning, and (4) comprehension errors in sentence processing. Dr. Brooks joined the CSI faculty in 1997 after completing post-doctoral fellowships at Carnegie Mellon University and Emory University. She was appointed to the CUNY Graduate Center faculty in 1999, and is active in the Ph.D. programs in Developmental Psychology and Cognition, Brain & Behavior.

Vera Kempe is a Professor and Chair in Psychology of Language Learning at the University of Abertay, Dundee. She has held posts at Carnege Mellon University, the University of Toledo, SUNY Oswego, and the University of Stirling. She has published extensively within her research areas, which include: the role of child-directed speech in language acquisition; crosslinguistic research and neural network modeling of language learning and processing; first and second language vocabulary acquisition and learning of inflectional morphology; Individual differences in language learning and in child-directed speech; emotion and communication.
